Samarice

Just a few unicorns helping us feeling warm and cozy.

Deep in Kozara mountain (north-western Bosnia), group of 30 horses and 6 brothers are confronting freezing cold and hostile forest to make us feel warm and cozy in our houses. Term SAMARICE is referred to a cargo saddle that main purpose is to carry raw wood.

Ritan (family name) brothers are among very few who are still performing this type of hard labor. Stables are located deep in the woods far away from their home so it makes hard work even harder.

Those beautiful animals are aware of how dangerous and exhausting their working day could be so calmness and patience are the main emotional states you can see in their eyes. They know very well what to do and where to go so nothing but gentle cracking of branches can be heard in the silence of this winter scenery.

Morning preparation with cargo saddle.
Showing off with his pride.
Feeding routine.
Strange way to build up some trust.
Long way journey to the extracting location.
Not to many times they gain some interest for me.
Ready.
Heavy load on a rough terrain.
Waiting in line for unloading.
Short brake is good opportunity for posing.
Hostile environment.
The path.
