Djelidba by Skender Kulenović

New play by Prijedor city theater – Djelidba (not sure about translation, but I believe the most closest word would be “dividing”) by famous Bosnian writer Skender Kulenović, directed by young Marko Misirača.

Final touch…

Still working on a theater play “Forever and a day” by Milorad Pavić – directed by Gradimir Gojer. There are few more days left until premiere night so tension is high and work is hard as never before. This is the last set of photos for this piece.

A few more from Prijedor city theater rehearsal of their new play Milorad Pavić’s “Forever and a Day”, adapted and directed by Gradimir Gojer. Still, they are rehearsing it without costumes.

City portrait #19 – Rade Stupar

rade stupar
Rade Stupar – an actor. Oldest active actor in Prijedor city theater (although – retired officially). He played over thirty different characters in his career in several hundreds of shows. Very calm and pleasant person as well as expressive actor.
I imagine this portrait as a symbol to theater and that is why to faces on both sides of a photo. Tragedy and comedy. I put two lights setup on both sides of a subject and without any light modifier to gain a dramatic face expression. Put my camera to synchronize flashes on first curtain and through 30 seconds exposure we did two “side” faces that I lit up with small led torch (6 seconds each). Photo is taken in pitch dark so I needed some orientation points for subject where to stand. I used even smaller led torches on the flour.

Premiere is scheduled for 14th of November (Saturday) so if you are around, come and see it. At premier night in theater lobby, there will be an exhibition of my photos that I made during preparation of this piece.

City portraits #1 – Darko Cvijetić

First of all, I would like to write few words about project I am on to. It is a “Portrait of a city” and it’s about my town Prijedor (RS, BiH). I would like to show my town throughout people who are promoting city of Prijedor on their own, unique or professional way. Artists, politicians, craftsmen, journalists…

First in series is one above. On picture is Darko Cvijetić – theatre actor, theatre director, poet. Currently works in Prijedor city theatre. Story behind this portrait is that I tried to connect him with some part of a city or with some city characteristics. Behind him is a “red building” (crveni soliter), a building from period of socialism that is connected with some sort of urban legend – building with high rate of suicides. Darko is a resident of that building and he knew few people who committed suicide up from that building. I put him lying down writing a poem as a some sort of homage to all who fell.

For lighting, I use small strobe Vivitar 285HV, Elinchrom triggers and Westcot silver reflective umbrella. Light was positioned on camera right and on full power. Backdrop was lightened by late afternoon sun.
